Ozone Water Treatment for Bottled Water
The typical Bottled Water Ozonation System uses Ozone as a disinfectant. See Ozone Generators.
Two broad examples of Bottled Water Ozonation Systems are for in-plant bottled water and for Bulk Water Ozonation. They are shown in the photos below.

Bottled Water Ozonation System for in Plant Bottling.
The typical Bottled Water Ozonation System for in plant Bottling starts by removing any particles aggressively with a minimum 1 micron "absolute" filter cartridges.
In addition to filtration the second method of purification to protect the water from bacterial contamination is ozone. Small systems use ozone eductors to dissolve the ozone gas into the water at the proper levels to maintain the correct disinfection "residual". This residual insures that the bottled water is bacteriologically safe to drink. As long as the "residual" is maintained in the bottled water and in turn data logged for FDA reporting, we can be confident that the water will pass FDA inspections. Now with absolute filtration and disinfection residual levels we have two methods of bacterial control for the Bottled Water Ozonation System.
Finally the bottled water systems need to produce enough water at the proper pressures and flows to go to the filler(s).
Bottled Water Ozonation System for Bulk Water Protection and Storage.
In the case of Bottled Water Ozonation System for Bulk Water Protection and Storage and subsequent transport, the Ozone residual is maintained at a precise level. This precise level of Ozone residual is utilized to make sure that the bottled water produced for bulk transport and subsequent processing does not adversely affect the other source waters which can be mixed in the final bottled water production facility.
As a final safety feature, if the Bottled Water Ozonation System discharges the ozone gas into the room, an Ozone Destruct Unit is needed to catalyze the ozone into harmless components for the workers in the facility. See Ozone Destruct Units - OZDs.
At larger facilities we see Ambient Air Ozone Monitors to insure worker environmental safety. See Ozone Monitors.
